Formatting Tables and Figures. (Section 5.04, pp.127-167)
Be sure to check with the publisher to determine what format is used for tables and figures. Some of the more common formats are .doc, .jpg, .pdf but each journal may have preferences to facilitate electronic publishing.
Number all tables and figures with Arabic numerals in the order in which they are first mentioned in the text (Table 1 or Figure 1). Only use whole numbers, do not use suffix letters for sub tables (Table 1a). If you are using appendices, label the tables and figures with the appendix letter then number each item as it appears in the appendix. Use Table A2 for Appendix A, Table 2 (second table to appear in appendix A).
Appendices: Are appropriate for materials that supplement the article, are relatively brief and easily presented in print format. If you article has only one appendix, label it Appendix. Each appendix should start on a new page with the appendix label at the top of the page.If your article has more than one appendix label each one with a capital letter (Appendix A, Appendix B...) in the order they are mentioned in the text. In the text refer to the appendix by it's assigned label (Appendix A). Be sure to give each appendix a title and use appropriate heading, subheadings, tables and figures as you would in the main text. Appendix titles should be centered, in upper/lowercase letters. Start the text of the appendix flush left, followed by indented paragraphs.
